Definitions: Number of youth referred to the court system for the filing of formal charges.

Data Source: Administrative Office of the Courts, Court Designated Workers Database.

Footnotes: Counts reflect youth rather than number of cases. Youth with cases in more than one county will be counted in each of those counties. Youth may be counted more than once in the statewide total if petitioned to court for two or more different reasons.
Updated on 12/13/2011

Note: Maps use the natural break classification method, which reflects patterns in the data by dividing the map into naturally occurring groups. Using statistical tools, this method determines cut-off points for each group by identifying large gaps in data values.
