Definitions: Number of births to teens ages 15-19 and rate per 1,000 females ages 15-19.

Data Source: Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services; number of female teens provided by Kentucky Population Research at the University of Louisville Urban Studies Institute.

Footnotes: Data are reported by mother’s place of residence, not infant’s place of birth. Data for 2007-2009 are preliminary. LNE = Rates were not calculated for counties with fewer than 6 occurrences.

Updated 12/1/2011

Note: Maps use the natural break classification method, which reflects patterns in the data by dividing the map into naturally occurring groups. Using statistical tools, this method determines cut-off points for each group by identifying large gaps in data values.
