Definitions: The percentage of youth in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 who reported using tobacco products (cigarettes or smokeless tobacco) in the 30 days prior to completing the Communities That Care Survey on substance use and other social behaviors. Data are provided by the Southeast Kansas Education Service Center. The current rate represents the annual percentage for academic year 2007-2008. The trend represents the average annual percent change for academic years 2003-2004 through 2008-2008.

Note: Maps use the natural break classification method, which reflects patterns in the data by dividing the map into naturally occurring groups. Using statistical tools, this method determines cut-off points for each group by identifying large gaps in data values.
