Definitions: Numerator: Number of first births to Georgia residents who are at least 20 years old and have graduated high school. Denominator: Number of first births to Georgia residents. Rate calculation: 100 times the numerator divided by the denominator.

Data Source: Birth Certificate Records, Georgia Department of Human Resources, Division of Public Health, Office of Health Information and Policy. Data collection is the responsibility of the Vital Records Branch.

Footnotes: Records with age or mother's educational attainment missing are excluded from the numerator and denominator. LNE (low number event) indicates that there were 4 or fewer events on which rates would be based.

Note: Maps use the natural break classification method, which reflects patterns in the data by dividing the map into naturally occurring groups. Using statistical tools, this method determines cut-off points for each group by identifying large gaps in data values.
