Definitions: The number/percent of individuals of all ages who live below the U.S. poverty threshold, as defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget. The poverty threshold was $22,811 for a family of two adults and two children in 2011.

Data Source: Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates, U.S. Census Bureau, Washington, DC

Note: Maps use the natural break classification method, which reflects patterns in the data by dividing the map into naturally occurring groups. Using statistical tools, this method determines cut-off points for each group by identifying large gaps in data values.
