Definitions: (Number) Number of children enrolled in preschool (PK3) and pre-kindergarten (PK4) by school type.

Footnotes: Enrollment data come directly from each year's audited enrollment report. These data include children at DCPS and public charter schools; the totals do not include children enrolled in preschool or pre-kindergarten at community based organizations.

Beginning in 2012-2013, enrollment documents refer to preschool as PK3 and pre-Kindergarten as PK4.

Note: Maps use the natural break classification method, which reflects patterns in the data by dividing the map into naturally occurring groups. Using statistical tools, this method determines cut-off points for each group by identifying large gaps in data values.
