Data Source: Child Trends analysis of 1990-2010 Natality microdata files from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Health Statistics.

Footnotes: Updated January 2013.
It should be noted that this is not the same as a teen birth rate, which measures the risk that a teenager will give birth. The percentage of total births to women under age 20 is affected by the births to women over age 20, as well as the births to teenagers.
Data are provided for the 50 most populous cities according to the most recent Census counts.  Cities for which data is collected may change over time.
