The data are based on health insurance coverage at the time of the survey; interviews are conducted throughout the calendar year. Children receiving health insurance through a variety of State Health Insurance Programs (SCHIP) are counted as having health insurance. More...

Data Source: Population Reference Bureau, analysis of data from the U.S. Census Bureau, 2008 - 2011 American Community Survey. The data for this measure come from the 2008 through 2011 American Community Survey (ACS). The ACS, fully implemented, is designed to provide annually updated social, economic, and housing data for states and communities.
